How to Use Britannica Academic

Get Britannica basics, cite from Britannica and more.

Share Articles, Images/Maps, Video, Primary Sources

Link to Britannica Academic articles or video so that they can be accessed on or off campus.

On Campus Access

In Britannica when you are viewing an article, the URL in your browser address bar is a durable link, so you can just grab it to share the article on campus.

Off Campus Access

To provide off campus access, you'll need to add a prefix in front of the link so that COM students, faculty and staff can login with their COM account to see the article.

  1. Grab the URL from the address bar of your browser.
  2. If you want to make the resource accessible off campus (users will need to have a COM account to log in), add the EZProxy prefix directly in front of the bookmark URL with no spaces:  https://comlib.idm.oclc.org/login?url=

A link accessible off campus should look like this:

https://comlib.idm.oclc.org/login?url=http://academic.eb.com/levels/collegiate/article/111233
