Library ItemsCOM students, faculty and staff can visit the Circulation Desk to check out library items, reserve items, pick up or place items on hold and renewals.

Place Items on Hold

If the library item you want is checked out, you may place a "Hold" on the item at the Circulation Desk, online via the COM Library Catalog or by phone at (409) 933-8448.

Renew Items

Library items can be renewed one time in person, online and by phone.

Your Library Card

COM students, faculty and staff, your COM ID is your library card, so you're all set!

If you don't have your ID yet, all COM IDs are issued in the Gym.



Community Cards

The community is welcome in COM Library. Most resources may be used on site without a library card.

If you'd like to check out books or access our online resources from home, you'll need to get a COM Library community card. The card is available to residents of Texas City, La Marque, Dickinson, San Leon, Bacliff, Hitchcock, Santa Fe, Algoa, Arcadia and Alta Loma (these cities comprise COM's tax base)

Get your COM Library community card at the Bursar in the Enrollment Center. Cards are $12/year but all expire on August 31st of each year, so are prorated on a monthly basis. Once purchased, bring your receipt to the Library Circulation Desk to get your library card.


Some textbooks are placed on reserve by departments or faculty. Use our Textbook Checkout guide to see if your textbook is available on reserve.

CHS Textbooks

CHS textbooks (purchased by local ISDs for CHS students) have different limits and length of check out. Does not count against checkout limits of non CHS items. A signed CHS Request Form is required and length of check out is for the semester or as determined by CHS Staff.
