Franklin D. Roosevelt was born on January 30, 1882. Here is just a small selection of books in our collection covering different parts of this tenure as president of the United States.

Fear Itself: the New Deal and the Origins of Our Time by Ira Katznelson. In this book, Katznelson examines the impact of FDR's New Deal, both the positives and the negatives. While the programs under the New Deal saved the nation, it also came at a cost. The New Deal was launched within the first 100 days of his tenure as president and would become one of his lasting legacies.

Rightful Heritage: Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Land of America by Douglas Brinkley. This book covers FDR's creation of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a program to both employ people suffering from the depression and protect and reestablish the country's public lands. It shows how he expanded our national park system and protected lands that millions of visitors still flock to today.

No End Save Victory: How FDR Led the Nation into War by David E. Kaiser. Kaiser shows how during the months before the attack on Pearl Harbor, FDR could sense that the US may be drawn into the war. So, he began to make preparations. He made strives to improve our military which was in shambles and stoked the morale of the population, which was waning from WWI, to get them to support their country by joining this war.

To learn more about FDR check out some of the guides, including Presidency, and American History 1918-1945.
