Newly released, the PBS Hacking Your Mind series is excellent for critical thinking skills. It takes a look at how our brains work, how that makes us vulnerable to the influence of social media, marketing, and politicians, and how we can overcome it.

  • Living on Auto-Pilot
In this program, you will discover that all of us go through most of our lives on “auto-pilot” - and during this journey from around the world to inside your mind, Jake will give you your very own owner’s manual to your auto pilot system.
  • Weapons of Influence
This program shows you how the advent of big data has given corporate marketers, social media companies and politicians the ability to hack your auto-pilot system in shocking new ways. And you’ll see why the survival of democracy itself is at stake and how you can protect it.
  • Us vs. Them
In this program, you’ll discover how many of the divisions tearing our country apart arise from our auto-pilot biases against “them” – and how authoritarians “hack” those biases to gain power. And then you’ll find out how each of us can overcome our auto-pilot biases and see the world as it really is.
  • The Wings of Angels
In this program, you’ll discover how the same scientists who’ve revealed why our minds are so easy to hack have also made perhaps the most important discovery of the 21st century: how each us can make our own lives and those of our family, friends, and entire society work better.
