What is Phlebotomy?

Phlebotomy is the process of drawing blood from a vein using a needle, typically the arm. This procedure is also known as a blood draw or venipuncture. It's commonly used for diagnostic purposes, where the blood is sent to a laboratory for testing. Sometimes, phlebotomy is performed as a treatment to remove excess red blood cells or iron from the body, known as therapeutic phlebotomy.
