Snow Crash is a science fiction novel written by the American author Neal Stephenson.
The story takes place in a post-collapse Los Angeles of the 21st century. In this future, the federal government has ceded most of its power and territory to private organizations and entrepreneurs. In this world where tech corporations dominate, the physical and virtual worlds have become blurred. The term Metaverse used to describe this virtual world was first used by Stephenson in this novel. The story follows Hiro Protagonist, a renegade hacker and pizza delivery driver and skateboarder Y.T., as they navigate through a web of conspiracy, ancient Sumerian mythology, and powerful entities vying for control.
