How to Use Libby

Get the basics, and how to read literature, fiction and nonfiction eBooks from COM Library's OverDrive collection on Libby.

1. Get the Libby App

Get free eBooks on family, relationships, health, life after military, self-improvement, history, succeeding in college, literature from 20th and 21st century authors as well as leisure reading.

The app is available for Android, iOS and Windows devices. If you prefer reading on your Kindle, Libby can send your library books to it.

2. Set Up Your Libby App

You'll only have to follow all of these steps the first time you use the app.

  1. Download the app. If you already have the app and an account at another library, you'll just need to add COM Library to you library list.
  2. Open Libby and follow the prompts to sign in (or sign up) using your library card (COM account).
  3. In the app, tap the menu, select Add a library, enter your zip code and tap Search.
  4. Tap COM Library> College of the Mainland.
  5. You'll be taken to COM Library's OverDrive page and College of the Mainland will now be in your library list.
  6. Tap the Sign in button and choose your sign in option. We recommend the Overdrive account because it can remember your library card after you entered it the first time at each of your libraries. That way you'll use your OverDrive account login at all your libraries instead do having to remember your library card info for each one. Make sure to select KEEP ME SIGNED IN ON THIS DEVICE if you are the only user of the device.
  7. Now you can browse for eBooks, check them out, place holds or add to your wish list.

3. Check Out eBooks in Libby

Once finished with the initial set up, you'll be able to search or browse the library's collection as well as checkout, download and read your eBooks within the app.

Occasionally your login may time out and you may be asked to login again with your COM account.
