COM Library offers a number of services to our faculty, including:

  • Collection Recommendations
    No one knows better than you what you are teaching and which books, eBooks, DVDs, feature films (via Swank) will help your students the most. Email us with your collection suggestionsLearn more
  • Library Instruction In person or via Teams
    We can deliver synchronous library instruction for your courses in person in the library, your classroom and online, or even do demos for your departments if you want to get more familiar with any of our online resources. Email us if you’d like library instruction for your class. Learn more
  • Virtual Librarians for your Online/Hybrid Courses
    Let us know if you’d like a virtual librarian for your courses. Your virtual librarian will send out several announcements during the semester with links to top resources for their assignments as well as links to get help with the research directly from library staff via live chat, texts, emails and online forms. Email us if you’d like a virtual librarian for your class. Learn more
  • Placing materials on reserve
    The library will place on reserve books, articles or other items that faculty would like to have available to their students. We recommend placing on reserve multiple copies of course textbooks. This helps to ensure that students who cannot afford to purchase books still have access.

Great Resources for Your Students

We have loads of resources that your students can access in person or online, including help, online databases, and guides, all available 24/7 on or off campus. In person resources such as print books, textbooks that you place on reserve, laptops to check out, face to face help and library instruction are available during  library hours. 

  • Help
    Students can get help 24/7 with our live chat available from every COM Library page. During library hours COM Library staff will still be answering chats, but when we close real academic librarians working at colleges from around the world will hop online to help out our students.   • Databases
    Library databases include scholarly articles, eBooks, primary sources, streaming media and more to support student learning and research. See all library databases

  • Guides
    Subject guides that are carefully curated collections of top resources based on courses, how to and tip guides that show students step by step how to use library resources, find scholarly articles, get citations and more. See all library guides

  • Print Books
    In addition to thousands of eBooks, we have some great print books for students to check out, They can all be found through OneSearch. Go to OneSearch

  • Reserves
    Faculty can place course text books or other items on reserve in the library. Items will be library use only so that all student can benefit. Students can make free digital scans of about a chapter  See more about placing items on reserve

  • Scans
    Students can scan books, photos, magazines or any item up to 19 x 12.25 in black and white or full color for free! The Kic scanner is easy to use with touch screens as you go. The scanner is located the left side of the circulation desk. Keep in mind that both copyright and fair use apply for educational purposes

  • Laptop Checkout
    Laptops can be checked out for 4 weeks by currently enrolled COM students pursuing degrees or certificates without any current library holds, fines or overdue items. Students will have the opportunity to renew the returned laptop at 4 weeks, if needed. See more about our laptops

  • Calculator Checkout
    Calculators can be checked out for 4 weeks by currently enrolled COM students pursuing degrees or certificates who do not have any current library holds, fines or overdue items. See more about our calculators

  • Library Lab
    Students can work on PCs, on a MAC, print out papers and get tech help. See more about the library lab

  • Study Spaces
    Students can choose from individual study spaces and rooms or spaces designed for group collaboration, See more about study spaces on the ground floor and study loft

  • Charging Stations
    Students can charge devices stations in multiple location in the library. See more about charging stations

  • De-Stress @ COM Library
    Students can find places to decompress, check out things to de-stress like puzzles, games, bestselling fiction, graphic novels and more. . See more about the ways students can de-stress in the library
